REVISED plans for Aberystwyth’s under-construction skatepark can be revealed by the Cambrian News.

After work got under way earlier this month clearing old ramps at the Boulevard St Brieuc facility, the Cambrian News has seen final plans for the much-anticipated Parc Kronberg skatepark.

The start of works follows Aberystwyth Town Council’s successful bid for £440,000 of funding from the Big Lottery in October.

Freestyle, described as the “oldest, largest and most experienced skatepark design and build firm in the world”, has been working with local skaters Guy Jones and Danny Giles on final designs.

Referring to original designs, a Freestyle planning document states: “Guy and Danny were not keen so we shared with them the other designs we created and rejected during the design process.

“Whilst they were not keen on those either, they selected one and began requesting changes which we modelled and sent back to them.

“After some back and forth and checking the topography, drainage etc this is the final result.

“Like the original this design will attract a range of users and be suitable for young to old and beginner to advanced.

“Clearly Danny and Guy know the local scene better than us and this is a purely subjective choice.

“If they think this is more suitable we can only agree with them. The square area, height above ground, cost, materials and usage are unchanged and thus there are no planning implications.

“Both we at FS and Danny and Guy on behalf of the users are happy with this as the final design.”
