TWO inspirational schoolgirls have helped secure Blaenau Ffestiniog a brand new swing for children of all abilities.
Last August, Sasha Lee Evans, eight, and her friend Ella Jones, 10, conducted a sponsored walk around the town’s Y Parc in order to raise money for a new disability swing which all of Blaenau Ffestiniog’s children can enjoy.
Sasha has suffered from cerebral palsy from birth, a condition which makes it very difficult to walk, talk or perform co-ordinated movements.
Despite only learning to walk last year, the courageous youngster completed the walk with the assistance of well-wishers and family.
Along with her on the walk was friend Ella, who suffers with epilepsy amongst some other conditions.
Partnership member and town councillor Bedwyr Gwilym was delighted with the girls’ efforts.
“This couldn’t have happened without the tremendous efforts of Ella and Sasha, we’re very grateful to them,” Cllr Gwilym told the Cambrian News.
“The new swing allows children of all abilities to enjoy the park and its facilities."
