Congratulations Scotland on your first win in Paris since 1999!Fantastic!

The victory must taste very sweet... but thank you as well for handing the Six Nations championship to Wales! Diolch yn fawr iawn!

In extraordinary dramatic circumstances on the same ghostly ground six days earlier, France had stolen the Grand Slam from Wales with the clock turned red.

Less than a week later, Scotland repaid France with a dose of their own medicine, as they heroically denied France their victory, with the clock turned red once more.

It was almost deja vu, with many of the events in both matches being very similar, but this time at the expense of the French.

Scotland ignored their ‘Auld Alliance’ with France and, instead, did a big favour to the little nation with which it has a far older alliance.

We call the south of Scotland “Yr Hen Ogledd”, our “Old North”, the land whence Ceredig came south with his family, to drive out Irish invaders, and thereafter lend his name to this county – Ceredigion!

Our “Old North” is also the land whence our old estexisting Welsh language poetry, Y Gododdin (The Votadini) by Aneirin, derives, composed in Welsh-speaking Din Eidin, which is now Edinburgh, around AD600.

This rugby match was indeed poetic justice!
