A motorcyclist is in a critical condition and police are appealing for witnesses following a collision on the A498.

Police were called to the collision between Pen y Gwryd and Beddgelert shortly before 1.20pm yesterday afternoon (Wednesday).

The motorcyclist, who is in his 30’s, was initially taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor, but later airlifted to hospital in Stoke.

His injuries are described as life threatening.

PC Daniel Edwards of the North Wales Police Roads Policing Unit is appealing for witnesses.

He said: “The motorcyclist was travelling towards the direction of Beddgelert and I am urging anybody who may have been travelling along the A498 at around 1pm and who may have dash cam footage to contact us.

“We also know that a few people stopped at the scene, but had left before our arrival, so I am urging all those to please get in touch.”
