YOUNG people in Ceredigion will now have the opportunity to raise issues directly with the county council after the first meeting of the new Youth Council.

Set to meet three times a year, the Youth Council is made up of two young people from every secondary school and other young people’s forums in the county, such as the Urdd Forum, Young Farmers’ Club, Coleg Ceredigion, Hyfforddiant Ceredigion Training and Aelwyd Pantycelyn, among others.

The first meeting was held in the Council Chamber at Penmorfa, Aberaeron, where the new youth councillors discussed their new responsibilities.

Elliw Dafydd, chair of the new council, said: “I am delighted to be part of this youth council as I feel it’s important that we are able to share our thoughts and ideas with the county council.

“Young people have some really great and creative ideas and the council could learn a lot from us.”
