A HUGE five-figure sum has been donated to three worthy causes after a fundrasing push from a local supermarket.

At the end of November, Tywyn Co-op donated £20,847 to their local community including £7,612.14 to Aberdyfi Search and Rescue, £6,582.13 to Cylch Meithrin Tywyn, and £6,653.40 to Tywyn community Wellbeing Project.

A Tywyn Co-op representative was thrilled with the amount.

“A massive thank you to all of our members for swiping their cards and making it possible for a real difference to be made in our community!”

Receiving their cheque, the Tywyn community Wellbeing Project thanked everyone for supporting the area’s more vulnerable people.

“They are supporting people in the locality who are suffering from wellbeing problem or issues for the next 12 months,” they said.

Gemma Holt, of Cylch Meithrin Tywyn, said: “Thank you very much to Co-op Tywyn and the local community for coming together and raising a grand total of £6,582.13.

“We are extremely grateful from Menai, me and Kerry and all the children at Cylch Meithrin Tywyn.

“We intend to use the money to improve our outside area.”

The Aberdyfi Search and Rescue Team said: “We want to thank Co-op and all their customers for choosing Mountain Rescue and for this very generous donation for Aberdyfi Search and Rescue Team so we can look after on the hills and help out any one in trouble on Cader Idris, the Arans, or around this area.”
