A MOUNTAIN Rescue team have scooped up £300 after a kind donation by a local chippy.

On Wednesday 28 October Aberdyfi Search and Rescue Team was presented with a cheque for £300 by Hennighan’s Top Shop in Machynlleth.

The fish and chip shop had collected the momey over a series of months through donations and the 5p levy charged for plastic bags.

Geoff Brittain received the cheque on behalf of the mountain rescue team.

“The mountain rescue service is run by entirely volunteers and funded by charitable donations such as this,” he said.

“Every donation is gratefully received and helps us maintain our ability to support North Wales Police and the Welsh Ambulance Service by providing technical search and rescue capability on the mountains and in the towns and villages of Southern Snowdonia.”
