In the latest round of applications for ‘Cofio Robin’ (the trust set up in memory of Robin Llyr Evans from Llanbedrog who died in 2015) – it was wonderful to receive 31 applications from a wide range of sports ranging from judo and fishing to swimming and climbing.

The standard of applications again were very high and it was agreed to distribute £8,000 between 14 of the most accomplished individuals.

Medi Harris from Borth y Gest (swimming) and Osian Dwyfor Jones from Caernarfon (hammer thrower) were both chosen as Ambassadors for the charity in the summer of 2018 and it was wonderful to be able to offer them a further grant to assist them financially.

Medi has been successful recently in being chosen for the British Team for the European Junior Swimming Champtionship and Osian is current Welsh champion and is aiming to be part of the British team competing in the Olympic Games 2020.

An individual that impressed the Trustees was Catrin Williams from Caernarfon with her sailboarding.

She has represented Britain in European and world championships.

There were another four that reached high level, Arwen Fflur from Rhosgadfan and Ewan Luke from Colwyn Bay (both sailing) Kieran Forrest from Llanrug (Climbing), and Ania Denham from Llaniestyn who plays football.

Further donations were given to another seven applicants. Osian Davenport (fishing), Gregory Hopkins (cycling), Holly Jones (judo), Cameron Shaw (triathlon), Sophie Rawling (football), Frances Smith (wheelchair tennis) and Ioan Dafydd Hughes (swimming).

The next round of applications’ closing date is 30 September 2019.
