JOBS could be lost at Mid Wales Travel after the county council decided to scrap Aberystwyth’s park and ride bus.
Mid Wales Travel bosses have still not been told by Ceredigion council that it is looking to scrap the service after the news leaked out at a traffic management meeting.
Company boss Mel Evans said he learnt about the decision not to renew the contract worth £69,000 after the Cambrian News broke the story last week.
Confirming the decision could lead to redundancies, he said: “We weren’t told a thing. The first we knew was when we saw stuff in the Cambrian News and on Facebook.
“We’ve run the service for 10 years, but we’ve not heard anything from the council about this.
“It’s a hell of a shock. We haven’t had time to work out how it’s going to affect us.
“There’s going to be a big impact, but we don’t know exactly what it’ll mean for the workforce or the company. It could well have an impact on staffing.”
