STORM Abigail hit the Ceredigion coast last night - with Aberystwyth’s promenade being battered by high winds and tides.

The iconic pier and Victorian shelter were both hit by the giant waves, as was the new bandstand which is currently under construction.

Natural Resources Wales has flood warnings in place.
