Whilst we all owe a massive debt to our brave nurses, doctors, surgeons and carers, which no-one can deny. All praise to them for every day and night risking their own personal safety and that of their families. But let us also give equal recognition to those other member of our society, who may not be so noticeable.

I refer to the staff of Tywyn’s Co-op, Spar, the Post Office and shop, and the Premier store by the level crossing. These people face the possibility of being in contact with infected members of the public with a cheerfulness that belies the danger they are in.

They are keeping our shelves stacked to the best of their ability, subject to deliveries themselves, and they must be under a terrible strain whilst giving us the things we need to survive during this terrible time.

Also among these unsung heroes are the men and women of our outstanding postal service. Not only at this time, but all year round, in all weather.

And finally, all those men who turn out to clear the massive amount of rubbish we make - a tough job at the best of times.

So give it up for all those selfless folk that I have mentioned, and anyone else giving their time to help others who can’t help themselves.

To these people I say thank you.

Alan Winspear, Bryncrug.
