Madam,
The Leg Club at Bodlondeb home in Aberystwyth existed to treat patients with various conditions and was staffed by nurses from surgeries in the surrounding area.
The club was open two days a week and open on bank holidays, including Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
There was no appointment system. You could turn up between 9am and 4pm. Tea, coffee and biscuits were provided.
There was a great sense of comradeship between the staff and patients, and friendships were formed.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff for their dedication beyond the call of duty.
They were never hurried and always had time to listen and give advice.
This facility closed on St David’s Day and surgeries are now making their own arrangements for their patients.
The Leg Club ran for a number of years and will be greatly missed. Though I, Eileen, only attended for two months, I looked forward to attending. Others have attended over longer periods of time. Thank you all for making the Leg Club so special.
Yours etc,
Ray and Eileen Hobbins, Waunfawr, Aberystwyth.
