DOZENS of scooters will once again converge on Porthmadog for the third annual Scooter Rally.
Visitors from across the UK will travel to Dwyfor this bank holiday weekend for a weekend of soul/ska/Mod music, driving and socialising.
Last year, the event raised nearly £800 for local causes – Ras y Cob and the Porthmadog Christmas Lights Fund – but the fund-raising efforts will be focused on the Wales Air Ambulance for the latest rally.
The weekend has been arranged by two local scooter enthusiasts, Graham ‘Lewgi’ Lewis and Kevin Tiernan.
People from across the country visit the town for the start of the Snowdonia Rally on Friday before a full day of music – featuring acclaimed tribute act The Oasis Experience – taking place on Saturday.
“The town will be buzzing with local pubs hosting special soul DJs and with various bands playing at the Ganolfan,” said Lewgi. “The highlight of the weekend will be on the Saturday, at midday, when we expect dozens of scooters to ride out from Porthmadog on the rally.
“Demand for tickets has been massive, people love riding their scooters through the spectacular landscape of Snowdonia.
“Local people are also looking forward to the rally, which will bring money and visitors into Porthmadog.”
