TRAINS to and from Aberystwyth could be hit by a train drivers’ strike on Monday, 4 January.
Talks between train bosses and the Aslef union have not yet resolved a pay and conditions dispute.
But it is hoped that fresh discussions could help avoid the strike which would cause disruption to all trains on the Cambrian Line.
Aslef accused Arriva Trains Wales of reneging on the agreed disputes resolution and said they were left with no option other than to re-ballot their members regarding industrial action.
Arriva trains bosses said they were disappointed by the vote and said they were still in discussion with the trade union.
An Arriva Trains Wales spokesman said: “We are still in discussion with Aslef – we have submitted a new proposal and awaiting feedback from the Aslef national executive.”
Aslef said they were still available for talks and it is possible that there will be talks early in the New Year.
