WI
THE CAWL evening was held on Wednesday, 9 March, in the Memorial Hall. Amongst the guests were the Tregaron carnival queen and her mother, and members of Llangeitho and Pontrhydfendigaid WIs. The cawl, apple pie and Welsh cakes, all of which were delicious, were cooked by members of the refreshment committee, led by Ann Lewis and Ann Jones. Members were fortunate to be joined by Dai Jones, Llanilar, who entertained them with stories of his various visits to Patagonia. The raffle prizes, all donated by members of the executive committee, were won by various people. The competition for a ‘Brawddeg’ on Llanilar was won by Gay Evans (English) and by the carnival queen, Erin Jones (Welsh).The next meeting will be held in the Memorial Hall on Wednesday, 13 April, at 7.30pm. Geraint Hughes will be talking and holding a demonstration on the topic of ‘Easy Garden Planters’.
Clwb Cerdded
THE NEXT walk is scheduled for 9 April and is called Taith Jac/Jac’s Walk with Devil’s Bridge Walking Club.The leader is Jac Lloyd Davies (01974 298109).This is a circular walk. Starting at Soar y Mynydd the group heads west along a recently restored route towards Tynycornel Hostel. They will cross the ford towards Nantgwernog Plantation out to Brynambor. Crossing Cefn Cnwcheithinog and returning via the Doethie valley and Nantllwyd farm.There will be great views of the whole of the Cambrian Mountains and beyond. The walk is graded a grade C (hard) walk which should last approximately five hours and is over a distance of 10.5 miles.The meeting point is at 9am outside Y Talbot.If you would like to become a member of Clwb Cerdded Tregaron Walking Club, then feel free to give Dafydd, the secretary, a ring on 01974 298150.

Clwb Cinio
LAST month television cameras were at the lunch as were AnneMarie and Carole who announced to the members that Delyth had been shortlisted for a national award – the Age Cymru Volunteer Award for all her work over the last 15 years. This award was sponsored by Western Power Distributions.Age Cymru announced the winners of the awards at its annual awards and gala dinner in Cardiff on 11 March.The dinner was hosted by the broadcaster Lucy Owen. Pat and Mair presented Delyth with a bouquet of flowers and a card from the committee in recognition of all her hard work. Delyth brought her award to the lunch along with the pictures taken at the awards ceremony. She was congratulated on her success and thanked for all her hard work by the members.The lunch on Wednesday, 23 March, was at Y Talbot and attended by 37 members who enjoyed their lunches.The afternoon’s entertainment was provided by Ysgol Henry Richard Campws Cynradd. Miss Williams and 18 children came to Y Talbot. The choir sang two songs and there were also two recitations, a Cerdd Dant solo, a song solo and a clarinet solo.The competition this month was for a paperweight and the winner was Megan Thomas, with Mair Benjamin second and Aerona Rees third.Thanks were given to the club for giving everyone a chocolate orange as an Easter gift.The next lunch will be on Wednesday, 27 April, in Y Talbot.
