ABANDONED equipment at Festival No 6 is being put to good use.

Volunteers from CEFN Cefnogi Ffoaduriaid and Mid Wales Refugee Action spent two days following the popular festival deconstructing and packaging tents which will go to refugees all across Europe before the bitter winter months.

Caron Dukes, one of the volunteers, was jubilant with their efforts.

She said: “Our volunteers are amazing!

“Especially Gwenlli Haf Evans who coordinated them all. We were joined by another two from Mid Wales Refugees Action who we have supplied aid to in the past; they got a small van full too.

“We must have had nearly 100 tents, 60 or so sleeping bags and mattresses.

“There are refugees living in woods in Calais, many families among them that will have a degree of shelter and warmth as the first load goes down on 4 October."

“We are looking to move out to a bigger, more suitable location however. If anyone has any suggestions please e-mail them to [email protected]
