My wife and I decided to treat ourselves to our first trip out after lockdown with a visit to Aberystwyth. Little did we know what was waiting for us!

Not knowing anything about the "car ban", we were confronted with ’road closed’ barriers as we got closer to the town centre. Eventually finding somewhere to park near the harbour, we had a nice walk along the front trying to keep away from all the other walkers who obviously hadn’t heard of social distancing.

Getting back to the car we then had to play the game "Escape from Aberystwyth"! It appeared that we had to a complete lap of the town along the seafront with no signs up helping to "Escape from Aberystwyth".

Parts of the seafront below the castle are only wide enough for one way traffic so the inevitable happened with one long line of cars meeting another long line of cars with nobody wanting or able to give way! I can’t imagine what it’s going to be like when the summer really gets going.

We definitely will not be visiting Aberystwyth again until this farce is removed. The problem will be how we will know without the drive to and then playing the game "Escape from Aberystwyth"?
