A GROUP of friends from Tregaron have completed the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for the maternity ward at Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth.

The challenge saw friends Dewi Evans, Arwel Jones, Owain Pugh, Deian Rees, Meilyr Hughes and Rhydian Wilson take on over 13 miles of walking and 105 miles of cycling between the three peaks last weekend, as well as three miles of rowing.

All the friends are fathers to young children and were keen to take on a challenge as a means of thanking staff at Gwenllian Ward.

“We wanted to show our appreciation to the staff for the fantastic care our families received when our children were born,” Arwel said.

“We’re a group of friends that enjoy a challenge and love the outdoors, so we took the opportunity to give something back.”
