In writing this letter I am reminded of the song, ‘The impossible dream’! Surely it is extraordinary that our political leaders and councillors appear to have lost their marbles in promoting expensive electric charging points for vehicles (EV charging strategy) across rural Wales.
For a start, of all the car owners in Wales, who will be able to afford £30,000 (or £24,000 if you are lucky) for a new electric car? And where will the millions of the redundant fossil-fuelled vehicles be scrapped in an environmentally friendly way? Then where is all the additional electricity to come from - especially with the closure of fossil-fuelled power stations – no good complaining on a cold winter’s evening when the charging point is not delivering any power due to the lack of wind and solar!
www.gridwatch.co.uk, where UK generation data can be obtained for all sources of generation, will verify my concern.
