AFTER a 15-month wait, a Welsh cake made in Llanidloes has finally been crowned the biggest in the world.

Weighing in at an impressive 26 kilos, the giant Welsh cake was baked in July last year and adjudicated by officials from the Guinness Book of World Records.

A certificate confirming the achievement was received by the committee only this week.

“After a long wait, we are delighted to finally be told that Llanidloes is now a world record holder,” said a local spokesperson.

“After such a wonderful effort, it was a great achievement and a good way of raising money for charity.”
