Madam,
All along the Ardudwy coast we have lost our local banks, post offices and library. Now we have lost our bus service which enables us to get to nearby towns to use the few remaining facilities.
The number 39 which ran every two hours between Barmouth and Porthmadog and served all the villages en-route is no more and all Gwynedd Council can say is that there aren’t enough buses available. Plenty of buses in Caernarfon and Bangor for sure.
Yet again those of us in Meirionnydd are to suffer. Gwynedd apparently has £500,000 to invest in a bypass for Llanbedr, that money would be much better used providing public transport rather than encouraging more car use. It really is intolerable and many elderly and disadvantaged local residents will have no way to get to the doctor, hospital or social centres and will experience significant hardship.
So come on Gwynedd, play fair by all your communities.
Yours etc,
Robin Ward, Llanbedr community councillor.
