TREGARON man Carwyn Jones completed a hat-trick of wins on the Cambrian News Aberystwyth 10K Road Race on Sunday by claiming the overall victory in a great time of 32:13.61.
Jones, who had also won the race in 2013 and 2014, produced a strong run to finish ahead of youngster Ryan Jenkins, representing Carmarthen and District Harriers, in 33:40.80.
Aberystwyth Athletics Club’s Gary Wyn Davies completed the podium with a good time of 33:51.18 to claim third position overall.
Nearly 500 runners completed the 17th Aberystwyth 10K Road race, with a new flatter route.
Carys Hughes of Les Croupiers produced a strong run to win the Ladies’ race in a time of 37:13.41, from Nicola Davies of Maldwyn Harriers second in 40:32.42 and Heddwen Daniel third in 41:10.44.
The Male Under 20s category winner was Sion Lewis in a time of 36:38.81, from Max Piotrowicz in 39:02.61 and Llyr ab Einion of Aberystwyth AC in 39:27.26.
The Male Senior (20-39) category was won by Tomos Roberts of Meirionnydd Running Club in 33:54.56, from Aled Hughes of Aberystwyth AC in 34:19.94 and John Collier third in 35:10.62.
The Male 40-44 category was won by Jamie Biggs 36:26.58; from Shelley Childs second in 37:05.30; and Keith Richards third in 37:30.69.
The Female Under-20s race was won by Eszter Pinter in 50:03.89, from Ffion Evans in 53:32.91 and Hawys Hatley in 1:02:51.01.
The Female Senior (20-35) category was won by Catherine Marks in 42:13.06, from Caryl Wyn Davies in 42:59.64 and Angharad Starr in 45:52.09.
The Female 35-39 category was won by Llinos Jones in 43:47.69, from Kirsten Hughes in 47:35.26 and Shan James 49:09.53, and the Female 40- 44 section was won by Joanne Rees in 44:11.94, from Shan Lawson in 45:09.30 and Catrin Thomas in 46:55.37.
