Dolgellau 80 lost to Gwersyllt Park 2nds 81 for 3 by 7 wickets

DOLGELLAU are still without a home win this season, going down by seven wickets to Gwersyllt Park 2nds, and it is now confirmed that they will be relegated to Division 3.

Winning the toss, stand-in captain Phil Deane opted to bat first, the hosts being dismissed for 80 from 27 overs.

Gwersyllt reached a winning 81 for 3 in 16.5 overs after being 21 for 3.

Dolgellau opener Dave Jenkins had an outstanding knock of 51 not out, making his first half century for the 1st team, his unbeaten stay in the middle producing nine boundaries.

Jenkins' excellent innings was the only contribution in double figures as Ryan McCarthy did well with the ball, claiming 4 for 20 from seven overs.

He was supported by Tahsil Stanakzai with 2 for 33 from 8 overs and skipper Ben Griffiths 2 wickets for 1 run to close proceedings.

Keeper James Collier had two catches, both controversial, Jack Watkins also holding two catches.

When the visitors batted Collier went early, bowled by Jack Williams.

Five overs later it was 21 for 3, James Conde taking 2 wickets in 2 balls, Ben Griffiths caught by Jack Williams for 9 and Watkins caught by James Clark.

However opener Gareth Fox stood firm in scoring 38 not out with 7 fours, and he was joined by Muhammed Imran who struck 2 sixes in his 30 not out, together having an unbroken alliance of 60 to take their side to 81 for 3 for a 7 wicket victory.

Conde's bowling figures were 2 for 19 from 4.5 overs, Jack Williams claiming 1 for 37 from 8 overs.
