TYWYN scored 167 for 9 against Aberystwyth, but it was not enough to prevent the defending champions from passing the winning post on 173 for 3 in the West Wales Conference on Sunday.
Opener Mark Evans led the reply with a hard-hitting 58 off just eight overs, before Andi Price sealed victory with 53 not out.
Aberystwyth had lost the toss and were asked to field first in warm conditions.
Opening bowlers Harri Edwards (1 for 20) and Caleb Spencer (1 for 28) bowled tight as the visitors struggled to score, but opener Callum Taylor frustrated the Aberystwyth bowling attack with his 43.
Wickets then fell regularly with Gareth Lewis (2 for 23) and leg spinner Rowan Dunbabin (3 for 38) picking up wickets in the middle overs. There was resistance down the order, however, by Gareth Williams (48) and Gareth Langam (38).
It looked as though Aberystwyth might struggle to get the bowling bonus point, but all-rounder Andi Price (1 for 20) got the important wicket, with an excellent catch on the boundary by Caleb Spencer.
Chasing 168, Aberystwyth set off aggressively as Mark Evans (58) scored quickly with 9 fours and 2 sixes alongside fellow opener Andi Price (53 not out).
Tywyn’s opening bowlers found it difficult to control their line, with first change bowler Hughes (1 for 29) getting Evans caught on boundary in the eighth over.
Mel Jones was caught for 2, but Ceri John (38) played very well in his knock before being caught, with 10 runs required.
Young talent Zaid Khan (15 not out) had arrived at the crease, and the game was over in no time as he scored two fours and a six to tie up the win inside 26 overs.
