DEFENDER Jonny Spittle is the first of four new signings to join Aberystwyth Town for the new Welsh Premier League campaign, having left Airbus UK Broughton this summer.
Spittle has parted company with the relegated Wingmakers to remain in the Welsh Premier with the Seasiders, who lost defender Sam Rodon to Haverfordwest County.
The 22-year-old gained experience at Wigan Athletic, Blackburn Rovers and Rochdale, before joining Cymru Alliance outfit Llandudno and then joining Airbus in 2014.
After a spell back at Llandudno on-loan, he was recalled to the Wingmakers in February 2016, and made 22 league starts least season.
The Seasiders have also strengthened with the addition of striker Joe Phillips from Stourport Swifts.
Phillips was the Midland Premier League Club’s top scorer last season, having netted 16 goals, and will provide cover for striker Mark Jones, who has joined Afan Lido.
This week Aberystwyth Town also confirmed two more signings, with defender James Etherington and keeper Scott Coughlan signing.
Etherington, originally from Maidstone in Kent, started his Career at Grimsby Town where he was a Pro player until the age of 20.
The 25 year-old moved on to Whitstable Town, Ramsgate and Faversham Town, and then joined Wrexham for a second chance to get back into professional football.
Etherington, who can play right back or centre half, and is a younger cousin of retired Premier League midfielder Matthew Etherington, has enrolled as a BSc (Hons) Sports Coaching for Participation and Performance development student at Wrexham Glyndwr University.
Meanwhile Scott Coughlan is a Wales Under 19s goalkeeper from the Swansea area, who has been with Cardiff City until June 2017.
The 18 year-old spent a period on loan with Hull City’s Under 23 side last season, and he has also represented Wales at Under-17s level.
Three years ago he also kept goal for the Wales Under 16s side which won the Victory Shield for the first time in 66 years, alongside Ben Woodburn of Liverpool and Ethan Amapdu, who has joined Chelsea.
