PENRHYNDEUDRAETH manager Iwan Williams has returned to Chester FC, where he was coaching last season.

After parting company with Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley, former Newcastle and Everton player, Steve Watson, is now in charge and Iwan joins his management team at the Deva Stadium.

Williams had been manager of the tier 4 North Wales Coast West Premier club since the start of the season.

A Pro Licence holder he is also a former manager of Caernarfon Town and Llandudno.

He said: “I’d just like to place on record my thanks to everyone connected to the club, from the players, to my backroom staff, the board and the supporters.

“It was a great feeling coming ‘home’ and being back amongst friends and family and assembling a squad capable of challenging.

“It’s just a shame we weren’t able to name a consistent squad on a weekly basis as we’d definitely be closer than what we are at the moment.

“Nevertheless, everyone has been no short than brilliant, especially during my illness.

“The support I was shown will stay with me for a very long time and I’ll forever be grateful.

“I’ve promised to help Aled and Barry in whatever capacity they need, still, as I’ve never seen two individuals work as hard as they do for a football club, so I feel especially indebted to continue to help in whichever way possible.”

With Williams leaving, the club has moved swiftly to appoint a new manager, with assistant manager Trystan Davies, who has already taken charge of the team on a few occasions this season, taking the helm.

Davies said: “Firstly, I would like to thank Iw Bach for his time at the club and for giving me the chance to join his management team and wish him all the best as he returns to Chester.

“I am extremely proud to now be given the chance to take over as manager and look forward to the future.

“We have a fantastic group of players here and there is no reason why we can’t continue our good start to the season and aim to be up there come the end of the season.

“I’m glad to announce that our senior players, Sach, Iw Tom, Liam Watson and Barry will be assisting me with coaching and background duties.

“Hopefully we will be back out there on the pitch and be able to welcome you all back to Maes Y Parc soon.”
