Aberystwyth Town 3 Cefn Druids 0
HALF TIME
IN-FORM Aberystwyth were expecting big things against basement side Cefn Druids, especially after their unbeaten streak at Park Avenue since the JD Cymru Premier restart, but not many predicted that they would be 3-0 ahead at the break.
Lee Jenkins, skipper for the day at just 19 years of age, marked the occasion rising highest to flick the ball onto Jon Owen who volleyed in a confident finish after just two minutes.
They went further ahead five minutes later, Matty Jones converting a penalty awarded after Franklin was fouled.
And nearly made it 3-0, Jonathan Evans heading just over after running on to Jones’ free kick as Aber’s breathtaking start continued.
Gavin Allen, who has been shortlisted for manager of the month for March after securing draws against Caernarfon Town and Penybont and wins against Haverfordwest County and Newtown, made two changes to his team with Jon Owen and Jonathan Evans entering the starting eleven for Marc Williams and Jamie Reed.
His players continued to pose the greater attacking threat, good work by Jonathan Evans down the left flank earning Jones a crossing opportunity but the ball was cleared.
And the pressure paid off when Louis Bradford made it three. Playing an advantage from what looked another penalty for the hosts, the Druids keeper kept the ball out twice but Bradford swept up to find the corner.
Town were dominant with Druids struggling to get a hold of the ball and could have made it 4-0 on the stroke of half time, when Jonny Evans cut through the defence but his effort was saved by Michael Jones.
A fantastic half from Aber who dominated throughout after a lightning-fast first 10 minutes.
