FORMER Bala Town player Jordan Evans left it late to snatch Cefn Druids a precious point against his former club as the hosts hit back from two goals down to claim a dramatic 2-2 draw on Friday.
Mike Hayes and Henry Jones had put Bala two goals up inside 20 minutes, but James Davies pulled a goal back 10 minutes into the second half, before Evans hit a late leveller with just six minutes to go.
The result means Bala remain fourth in the Welsh Premier League, six points off the top spot, while Druids are eighth and six points clear of the relegation zone.
A bright start from Bala saw them almost take and early lead as Chris Venables headed over from six yards out.
Mike Hayes also blazed over the crossbar and then Henry Jones saw his shot take a deflection and go wide of goal.
At the other end, James Davies went close for the hosts as he turned beyond keeper Ashley Morris, but Anthony Miley was able to clear for the Lakesiders.
The breakthrough came on 16 minutes as Jones’ pass from a corner found Hayes who flicked into the net from close range.
Five minutes later it was 2-0 as Kieran Smith’s great ball arrived to Tames, who headed back across the face of goal for Henry Jones to head in at the back post.
Bala looked to be cruising, and they saw an effort hacked off the line, prior to Anthony Miley firing over from 12 yards.
A goalmouth scramble then saw Tames head narrowly over the far post, and the Lakesiders were in control at the break.
Druids, however, came flying out of the blocks in the second half and after only two minutes, an effort was disallowed.
The hosts capitalised on some sustained pressure in the 55th minute when Davies turned the ball into the net after the Bala defence had failed to clear their lines.
There were chances for Nathan Peate, Alec Mudimu, Evans and Davies for the home side as they grew in confidence, and Ryan Kershaw’s strike from distance was brilliantly tipped over by Morris.
With six minutes to go, however, a free kick from wide out was only cleared to the edge of the box and former Lakesider Evans unleashed a stunning strike from 20 yards to secure a share of the spoils.
