LLANUWCHLLYN earned a valuable point on the road after battling to a 2-2 draw against in-form Mold Alex on Saturday.

The hosts came into the match on the back of five consecutive league victories and sitting third in the table, while Llanuwchllyn were also dealing with a number of injury absences.

Despite those challenges, the visitors made a positive start, pressing high through Gwydion Roberts and Wil Owen.

The deadlock was broken after six minutes when the hosts' striker Samuel Duffy burst clear into the penalty area and drilled a low finish beyond Rob Dascalu.

Llanuwchllyn responded well and were rewarded midway through the half.

A penetrating pass released Roberts behind the defence and, as he prepared to shoot, he was brought down in the area. Daniel Holland stepped up and calmly dispatched the resulting penalty into the bottom corner.

The visitors continued to compete strongly, matching Mold Alex across the pitch and dealing effectively with the hosts' aerial threat to ensure the sides went into the break level at 1-1.

Llanuwchllyn suffered the worst possible start to the second half when Mold regained the lead through Luca Hogan, whose powerful run and finish restored the home side's advantage.

However, the response was immediate. Just two minutes later, another excellent pass split the defence and sent Roberts racing down the left. His pinpoint cross found Wil Owen at the far post, and the striker headed home.

With almost 40 minutes remaining, Llanuwchllyn faced sustained pressure from the hosts but showed tremendous resilience.

Strong defending, crucial saves from Dascalu and a tireless work rate throughout the team helped the visitors withstand Mold's attacks and secure a deserved share of the spoils.

Llanuwchllyn now turn their attention to Saturday's Welsh Cup tie at home to Llanberis.
