PENRHYNCOCH will be in confident mood when they get back on the cup trail on Saturday at home to fellow high fliers Cwmbran Celtic in the Welsh Cup fourth round at Cae Baker.
Gari Lewis’s side were emphatic 7-0 winners over Llanidloes Town in the Spar Mid Wales League Cup last weekend, with Arron Lemon netting a hat-trick, and they are chasing silverware on several fronts this season.
A fifth round tie at Wrexham Area side Queen’s Park awaits in the fifth round of the national FAW Trophy in the New Year, but this weekend’s cup tie offers them a potentially lucrative tie in the last 16 of senior competition.
Both sides are going great guns this season, with Cwmbran Celtic currently second in the Welsh League division two, whilst the Roosters are top of the Spar Mid Wales division one.
Manager Lewis said he was hoping that his side could impress in front of a bumper crowd this weekend, having already seen his side account for Llanidloes Town, Aberffraw and Trearddur Bay United in the earlier rounds.
“It’s a massive game for the club, they are also flying in their league and I would say that is going to be a 50-50 game,”said the Penrhyn manager.
“They are apparently staying overnight on Friday, there should be a good crowd and a fantastic atmosphere, and we’ll give it our best shot.
“Everything has been going well for us at the moment, but we are aware that we must not get carried away and keep working hard as a squad, and hopefully there will be a good crowd here on Saturday to get behind us.”
