A SOLITARY strike from Jonathan Evans proved enough to keep Penrhyncoch’s flag flying in the FA of Wales Trophy after overcoming plucky Penrhyndeudraeth 1-0 in the fourth round at Cae Baker.

Evans produced a well taken finish on 33 minutes when latching onto a long kick from goalie Lee Jenkins to lob the visiting keeper as the Roosters maintained their fine form this season to reach the last 16.

They were made to battle hard, however, against their visitors from the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance division one, who produced a rousing second half display with the wind at their backs.

Although the visitors did hit the upright late on, the Spar Mid Wales League division one leaders defended superbly, dealing with whatever came their way from their Gwynedd opponents.
