TALYBONT’s title hopes in the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth and District League division one were dented as their unbeaten record ended with a 4-0 defeat away at Aberdyfi last weekend.

With seven league games to play, Talybont remain four points adrift of frontrunners Dolgellau, who now have a game in hand - but the two sides meet in Talybont this weekend.

Aberdyfi took their chances well against a depleted Talybont side as goals from the experienced Ben Holt, with a brace, along with Tim Holt and Dave Jenkins secured the home team the three points.

Bow Street Reserves consolidated their top three position as goals from Pete James, Mark Loosely and an own goal earned them a 3-1 win over Tregaron Turfs, who scored their reply goal through Gareth Aled Davies.

Padarn United made it 14 goals in three games as a hat-trick from the impressive Paul James and singles from veteran Paul Griffiths and Alex Thomas earned them a 5-3 win over Penrhyncoch Reserves last weekend.

Matthew Merry scored twice and Hefin Hopkins also found the net for the youthful Penrhyncoch Reserves.

On Tuesday, Padarn had won 4-1 at Machynlleth Reserves, with goals by Richard Williams, Steve Jones, Jason Davies and a screamer by Paul James.

Aberystwyth University Reserves meanwhile notched up a 2-0 win over Llanilar last Tuesday, with Shaun Roberts and Charlie Misell scoring, to leapfrog above their opponents.

On Thursday night, Aberystwyth University Reserves beat Penrhyncoch Reserves 2-1 with goals from Geroge Jenkins and Owain Llyr Morris, after 16 year-old Matthew Merry had opened the scoring for Penrhyn.

Aberystwyth University Thirds meanwhile recorded a thumping 11-2 win at Llanon, with the returning Owen Whitmore scoring six goals.

Gytis Pivnickas netted a hat-trick, with captain-to-be Iestyn Wyn Davies also grabbing a goal, along an unfortunate own goal by student Max Elmer, playing against his University.

Lee Jones scored a hat-trick as free-scoring Llanrhystud stepped up their push for the division two title last weekend with a 9-2 win over Llanon.

Robin Baresi Mleczek and Loz Glaus both scored twice, and Liam Lewis and Phil Davies also found the net.

Last Tuesday, Llanrhystud won 7-3 at Padarn in the Second Division Trophy, with a hat-trick by Liam Lewis.

Lee Jones also found the net, along with a Robin Baresi Mleczek penalty, and also two goals from Ben Lewis.

Talybont Reserves consolidated second spot as goals by Steff Foulkes and Mikey Fitzpatrick earned a 2-1 win over Dolgellau Reserves, and Llanilar Reserves beat Aberdyfi Reserves 2-0.
