Unbeaten Tregaron Turfs made it a perfect 10 wins from 10 matches in the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth and District League division one with a solid 5-1 win against Talybont at Park Avenue.

Cledan Davies led the way with a well-taken hat-trick, to take his stunning tally to 38 goals in 20 games, as the Turfs moved four points clear of second-placed Llanilar, with a game in hand.

Davies had opened the scoring, following a neat one-two between Ifan Jones and right back Dylan Jones in the build-up, and then Daniel Owen soon doubled the Turfs’ lead when he fired a superb free kick into top corner from 20 yards.

Davies then made it 3-0 when he beat the offside trap and slotted home, and the Turfs went 4-0 up when a through ball found livewire Daniel Owen to score.

Talybont got one back just before half-time when Barry Southgate went through on goal to reduce the deficit - but in worsening conditions after the interval, the Turfs had chances to increase their lead.

The only goal they could muster in the second period, however, was a 20-yard free kick from Cledan Davies, which was fired low and hard into the back of the net, to seal yet another hat-trick for the former Aberystwyth Town player.

Tregaron turn their attentions to League Cup duty this weekend with a second round tie at Penparcau Reserves, whilst Bont will take on Dolgellau Reserves.

The wet weather meant more postponements last Saturday as Aberystwyth University’s match against Bont, and Llanilar’s match with Padarn were called off.

Padarn United Reserves’ match with Aberystwyth University Thirds in division two, and the second division trophy match between Penparcau Reserves and Llanilar Reserves were also postponed.

This weekend’s league action will see Llanilar look to close the gap at the top at Aberdyfi, whilst Penrhyncoch Reserves host Aberystwyth University Reserves.
