The Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth And District League was deeply saddened to hear of the sudden death of its life vice president, Malcolm Richards. He passed away after a short illness on 6 December aged 84.

Malcolm was elected to the Executive Committee of the league for the 1993/1994 season.

He was elected vice chairman for season 1999/2000 and then served as Chairman from 2000 until 2017.

On relinquishing the chairmanship in 2017, he was elected life vice president.

Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth League president T P Edwards said: "I wish to pay tribute to the commitment of Malcolm Richards who served this League with distinction for nearly 30 years.

"When Malcolm was league chairman, all clubs were treated with the upmost clarity and fairness and even after he stood down as chairman, he would regularly attend meetings to give his point of view.

"He was very well respected and held in high esteem by all".He will be sadly missed by all his colleagues and friends on the League Executive Committee and in local football."
