CARNO progressed into the last eight of the Spar Mid Wales League Cup as they defeated Tywyn/Bryncrug 4-1 on a very windy day in Meirionnydd.
The Greens were without midfielders Danny Pierce and Steve Jones as well as striker Peter Rees, but they started well and had a few chances.
The breakthrough came on 25 minutes when Ash Owens’ header came off the post and Gregg Brown was on hand to tap in from close range.
Brown had the chance to make it 2-0 to Carno before the half-time break, but he fired straight at the keeper.
Ten minutes into the second half, however, Gregg Brown’s cross floated into the top corner to put them 2-0 up.
The two-goal cushion was short lived as Dan Lewis scored an own goal, after keeper Chris Brown had fumbled from Tom Allen-Davies.
Jones saw his smart effort go just over the crossbar for Carno, but the two goal cushion was restored though as Drew Reynolds, who nodded the ball back across goal from an Owen corner for Adam Williams to score.
Carno keeper Chris Brown made a fantastic one on one save to deny Tywyn, but the best goal of the day was scored by sub Rob Davies, who beat three players and fired a left footed shot into the top corner from 20 yards.
