LLANDYSUL-BASED Caws Teifi Cheese once again made history at the annual British Cheese Awards held at the Royal Bath and West Show by smashing their own record of six at these awards with a magnificent seventh Best Welsh Cheese win since 2000.

John Savage-Onstwedder, of Caws Teifi Cheese, said: “To be awarded the title of Best Welsh Cheese for a record seventh time is both an honour and humbling.

“This year we won it with our semi-soft, washed-rind cheese Saval, which also won the best semi-soft cheese category.

“This is all the more remarkable, because the semi-soft cheese category has over the years become one of the most eagerly contested categories at the British Cheese Awards.

“It is a testament not just to the quality of the milk which is supplied by Mr and Mrs Huw Williams of Cilcert farm, Ffos-y-ffin, but also to the whole team here at Glynhynod farm and in particular to our head cheesemaker Timothy Mitchell.

“We keep putting Ceredigion on the map and once again the whole of Wales can be proud that we won such a major award.”
