Community Council

LLANRHYSTUD Community Council met on 5 July.

There were no replies to the co-option notices posted on the community council website and the village and memorial hall noticeboards.

In response to the information gathered about wooden play equipment, and to look for a way forward, it was decided to ask a local wood worker to meet the councillors on the playing field on Wednesday, 12 July.

Playsafe Ltd had completed the annual inspection of the play area and a summary of the inspection report was distributed.

The report gave a Low Risk grading for the play area which is within safety guidelines, but recommended that some maintenance was required. It was decided to consider what maintenance is required when the councillors meet on the playing field on the 12 July.

Permission was given to pay the inspection fee of £75.80. Permission was also given to raise the clerk’s gross monthly wage to £200 to cover the tax payable by the community council.

Ceredigion County Council’s consultation on the closure of Bodlondeb was received. After discussion the consultation document was completed and returned. Consultation on the Review of Rights of Way Improvement plan was also noted.

Notice was received from Grant Thornton (our external auditors) that they had completed the audit of the 2016/17 accounts and that they were satisfied that the accounts met all relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.

Notice of completion can be found on the noticeboard.

In response to a request to lower the speed limit on the C roads around the Joppa area technical services said that there was a lack of evidence for considering lower limits on these roads because there is little history of personal injury collisions from excessive speed on them. In response to the monitoring of replies to requests to the County Council the clerk will ask for updates to the following requests: dangerous tree in Cwm Mabws, non-slip coating on the footbridge over the ford and the speed warning lights that is due for replacement.

The next meeting of the community council is on 6 September, at 8pm in the memorial hall.
