THE 29th annual Aberporth and District Horticultural Show was held at the village hall on Saturday, 26 August.
The day began early for the committee and stewards as the first exhibitors arrived at 8am – the flower arrangers arriving first, followed by the gardeners and florists.
The number of exhibits in some classes were up this year and the quality was as high as ever.
Every year the committee is delighted by the enthusiasm and commitment of the exhibitors who have supported the show for many years, however, it is always a delight to welcome new faces taking part, they said.
The chairman welcomed everyone to the show and expressed her appreciation for the support received from sponsors, exhibitors, judges and members of the public.
The presidents for the day were Alastair and Yvonne Craig of the Penrhyn Pharmacy, Aberporth, and they needed little introduction as they are well known in the community.
They both spoke with delight about the success of the show and the pleasure that they felt to be associated with it. Yvonne was presented with a basket of flowers by young Christopher Davies.
Vice-chairman Mary Bott thanked the judges, stewards, exhibitors, tea ladies, sponsors, committee members and officials and all helpers for their hard work and their continued support in ensuring another excellent show.
Mary was as usual in charge of the raffle, and the money raised will be donated to a local charity.
