A Llanrhystud woman has set herself the challenge of raising money for charity, by helping Santa write letters in Welsh.

Ffion Lewis, who now lives in Caernarfon, is helping Santa deal with letters in Welsh as part of a year-long plan to raise £2,000 for Alzheimer’s Society and Alzheimer’s Research UK, which will culminate in her running the London Marathon next year.

Ffion has set herself the challenge of raising £2,000 for The Dementia Revolution; the official charity team of the Virgin Money London Marathon 2019.

It’s a cause close to her family’s heart as her Mamgu, Peggy Davies, is living with Alzheimer’s and it’s a heartbreaking experience for them to see her go through. Ffion would therefore like to help raise money to develop treatments and fund research into Alzheimer’s.

This winter she has teamed up with Father Christmas and is helping him find those children who would like a personal letter from him.

Ffion said: “Each letter will be very personal to each child.

“Whilst Santa speaks many languages, I help him with his Welsh and now that I live in north Wales, I can help him with those important differences in regional phrases.”
