Madam,

After your article about talks on charging for parking on Aberystwyth promenade, of which I strongly disapprove, I would like to bring another example of council underhandedness to your attention.

When I was in Aberaeron in early November, the North Beach car park was empty, which was unusual, while the spaces round were full.It was not until after I had parked that I noticed the pay box was not covered or removed as is usual in winter, and that the sign had been changed from a charging period during summer to “All days”.

It seems that the council is so longer content to fleece the tourists in summer, but has taken away any local benefit, so we are to be fleeced in winter as well.

I presume that this has happened in all coastal car parks. I wonder if any additional income will cover the cost of changing the signs, or if this attempted pennypinching will result in yet another increase in our council tax?

Yours etc,Kay Skippins,Llangeitho.
