After a massive run of great results, we fell short on Sunday against an aggressive Wrexham side.

After taking the lead early on, they came back with a vengeance with two goals before half time. It was disappointing to lose such an important and high-profile game. Credit to Wrexham, though, they played the exact same way we would against any other top side. They bullied us, won most of the second balls, and took their chances.

It’s the first time I’ve had to write one of these after a loss. In a way that just shows how well we’ve played so far this season. Yes, we are disappointed with the result; however, the way Wrexham celebrated the win just shows we are a team to be reckoned with. Our girls put everything on the line week in week out, and though we pick up a few knocks and niggles we’ll be out there again next week against Swansea City ready to bounce right back.

I do have to take a moment to thank everybody for the fantastic support this week.

It was brilliant to welcome Mark Kurta all the way from the USA – he sponsors Lleucu Mathias and Tania Wylde – and we are so grateful for him and everyone else who sponsors a player or a staff member. It was good to be able to thank him in person and present him with a signed and framed squad photo. We also welcomed the Llanilar Brownies as our mascots, along with almost 300 other fans there at Park Avenue to cheer us on.

The community have really got behind us this season and it just shows how far women’s football has gone and is going.

We’ll see you at Park Avenue again this coming Sunday (29th) as we face the Swans (2pm kick-off, admission £5 adults, concessions free).
